Food Share

Food Share

None of us can afford to throw away good food. That's why our stores give products that are going out of date to local community groups at the end of each day to prevent food waste, so far we've given away over 3m meals and counting. If you're a not-for-profit group and could use this food then apply to be a partner with your local Co-op now.

What is Food Share and why should you join?
We see unsold, good food on our shelves go out of date. Traditionally, this food would be thrown away, however we want these products to reach and feed the people in your local community who need it most to prevent food waste. If you're a not-for-profit group, you can arrange food collections from our local depots

Who can apply?

It’s simple, you need to be a not-for-profit group, committed to collecting food from our stores and using it to feed people in your local community. Also, you need to be registered as a food premise with your local authority, find out how to do that here.

What food is available?

No two days are the same in the world of retail. The food you’ll get will vary depending on what’s available on the day. Evening donations will typically be bakery, fresh fruit and veg and also some fresh meat and chilled products.

When can I pick it up?

Preferably in the evenings, if that’s not possible then collections can be arranged the following day - the sooner you pick it up the fresher it will be.
