Co-op Funeralcare, Bishop Auckland
Fylands House, Tindale Crescent, Bishop Auckland, DL14 9AS
Our funeral home has been helping the people of Woodhouse say goodbye to their loved ones since 1985. During that time, we've established incredible connections with members of this community, and we've come to understand and love the rich history of the town.
When you begin funeral arrangements with our team, the first thing we do is listen to you. That way we can arrange the funeral that is right for everyone. Whatever their religion or beliefs, if you're looking for something traditional or something more personal and creative, it's okay. We can make it happen, together.
If you need us, get in touch. You'll be greeted with a warm welcome, a friendly face and the promise of a cup of tea when we meet at our comfortable funeral home on Cambridge Court.

Our Bishop Auckland funeral home is here whenever you need us, day or night, and the first call you make can simply be to us. We'll talk you through what needs to happen, arrange to bring your loved one into our care from wherever they are — whether that's a home in Woodhouse, a hospital in Darlington, or anywhere nearby — and take the immediate pressure off your shoulders. There's no need to have any paperwork ready for that first call; we'll explain everything as we go and move at whatever pace feels right for your family.
Yes, our team at Bishop Auckland covers families across Wear Valley, as well as Woodhouse, Darlington, and the wider Durham area. Wherever you are in the region, we can come to you and handle every arrangement from the very beginning. You don't need to be in Bishop Auckland itself to be in our care.
Yes, we have a chapel of rest here on Cambridge Court where you're welcome to spend time with the person who died in a calm and private setting. Our funeral home has been serving the Bishop Auckland community since 1985, and we understand how much these visits can mean to families. We have on-site parking with ten spaces, including designated disabled bays, and our arrangement and visiting rooms are all on the ground floor with full wheelchair access and an accessible toilet, so everyone in your family can come without difficulty.
Absolutely — many of the families we support in Bishop Auckland and across the Durham area choose a civil or humanist funeral that celebrates a life without religious content. Our team can help you find an experienced celebrant who will take the time to learn about the person who died and craft something personal and meaningful. Whether you'd like music, poetry, open tributes, or simply a quiet and dignified farewell, we'll help shape a service that feels true to them.
On the day of the cremation, our team will bring your loved one to the chosen crematorium and guide your family through every moment, from the arrival of the cortège to the committal itself. You can choose music, readings, and whether a celebrant, minister, or someone close to the person who died leads the service. We'll talk through the timing and order of the day with you in advance so nothing comes as a surprise, and we'll remain with you throughout to offer quiet support.
